On specifics of foreign economic activity in the textile industry

Russian Week of Textile Industry includes the conference on Foreign Economic Activity in the Textile Industry in 2024 organised by EXPOCENTRE AO and LegPromMedia OOO.

The rich programme of the event features several thematic sessions devoted to various aspects of foreign economic activity of textile industry enterprises. The practice-oriented nature of the conference will allow textile business professionals to get answers to many challenging questions.

The first key session, dedicated to customs clearance and logistics, covered changes in customs regulation of foreign economic activity in 2024, the main supply routes through third countries, specifics of export management in the current environment, settlements with foreign counterparties and much more.

Yulia Skopina, an expert on foreign economic activity and founder of the Yuskas consulting company, noted that foreign economic activity is one of the bricks of the foundation on which business in the textile industry is built. It is very important to lay this foundation correctly so that the business could develop and enter other foreign markets. She also gave examples from her experience in foreign trade, mentioned the advantages and disadvantages of contract manufacturing, spoke about the situation with payment methods and shared other useful information.

Oksana Kurochkina, customs lawyer, expert of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, gave a brief overview of the changes in legislation that exporters should definitely consider; spoke about the introduction of customs duties and what textile industry manufacturers who have not dealt with them before need to know.

The next session was dedicated to parallel imports and royalties. The speakers answered various questions on the following topics: how right holders and importers can protect their rights, how to import original goods without the consent of the right holder, how to confirm the customs value and country of origin when importing parallel import goods, etc.

At the session on Technical Regulation and Labelling of Goods. Simplified Declaration of Conformity of Goods to Mandatory Requirements of Technical Regulations and Verification of Information from Declarations of Conformity speakers will discuss the main changes in the field of technical regulation in 2023 and planned changes in 2024, legal regulation of relations in the field of confirmation of conformity of products, forms of conformity assessment and much more.

The final session on Specifics of Customs Control: Confirmation of Customs Value, CN FEA Code and Country of Origin of Goods. Judicial and Law Enforcement Practice will provide answers to questions about the specifics of customs documents, reducing the potential risk of administrative or criminal liability after a customs audit, and other questions related to the specifics of customs control.
